Informal Gathering to discuss National Grid’s Final Consultation

Invitation to Informal Gathering Thursday 18th April @ 7pm at the Haywain

Welcome and thank you for giving us permission to add you to the Little Bromley Village database.  We will endeavour to keep you informed of developments on the National Grid, Five Estuaries, North Falls and Tarchon projects and any other relevant news affecting the Village.

For information, the system we are using is called MailChimp which is an automation and email marketing platform, and we can assure you that your details are secure.  You always have the option to opt out of emails at any time.

To date, we have an audience of 36 email addressees signed up.  Please pass the word to your neighbours as we need strength in numbers. They can sign up by emailing littlebromleypc [at] gmail.com.

There has been a lot of activity this past week with the launching of National Grid’s final statutory public consultation.  They have released worrying plans showing the effect on the village.  We ask you to read the consultation document and look at the maps, think about how it will affect you and the village.

The Parish Council will be submitting a response to this consultation listing all the local issues and we would like to hear your views.  We are building a detailed document of local issues that we can present to National Grid before the close of their consultation in June and we would be happy to share this with you when complete. It is not just down to the Parish Council, it is vital individual residents respond too and are aware of the impact on them/their property.  There are just over100 households in Little Bromley and we need everyone in those households to respond to the consultation.  National Grid have stated that previous consultation responses do not count.

We would like to invite you to an informal gathering on Thursday 18th April commencing at 7pm at the Haywain to discuss the best way to do this and to understand how National Grid’s plans impact the village.  The evening is about bringing local knowledge together.  if you are able to attend please respond below.   Some of the areas we would like your input on are:

Tree Preservation Orders and Conservation Areas

Listed buildings

Archaeological areas of interests and finds

Heritage/Scheduled monuments

Wildlife protected species

Public rights of way

Any underground constraints like rag stone, high water table, flooding risk, well water properties

Construction traffic impacts - What, where, who

Impact on local businesses including farms

and anything else you think will be a local issue.  There are just 10 weeks to gather all the local knowledge for responses.

There are other alternatives and our MP, County and District Councillors are all pushing for National Grid to consider those.  If we want to do our absolute best to stop the horrific impact to Little Bromley, we all need to get involved. It cannot and should not be left to just Parish Councillors. We need to come together as a community to fight this. Please, don’t sit back, get involved and let’s work together to try to make that difference.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 18th April.
