Village Database - Proposed Substations and Underground Cables

Dear Resident

On 4th March, Zoe Fairley, District Councillor for Little Bromley and Ardleigh,
invited both Parish Councils to attend a meeting to discuss the approach to the
Development Consent Order applications for Five Estuaries and North Falls
together with National Grid’s East Anglia Connection Node.

David Burns from Horkesley, who leads Villages Against Pylons attended the
meeting hosted at Ardleigh Village Hall. David has a huge amount of industry
knowledge and has been working closely with Sir Bernard Jenkin on the
continued campaign against National Grid’s Norwich to Tilbury route and the
East Anglia Connection Node at Little Bromley. He shared the work he is
doing, and it was interesting to hear how his approach to consultation
responses for his village, and the wider area have been received by National
Grid and also how useful they have been to help residents with their own.
David could not reiterate enough the importance of getting as many residents
as possible engaged in objecting to the plans for the substations proposed,
especially as there is another consultation in progress from Tarchon Energy for
another substation to create a direct power link between Germany and Great
Britain. That will make a total of 5 substations on the edge of our Village.
Combine this with the proposal to put underground cables through the Village
from the off-shore windfarms, the effect on the quality of life and property
prices in Little Bromley would be devastating.

We would like to set up a database of residents so we can keep you up to date
with progress on all developments. This will enable us to copy you in on
emails so you can personally object, which will greatly help. If you would like to
join the network please email: littlebromleypc [at] gmail.com.
David has kindly offered to come and share more information with Little
Bromley residents and we are arranging a meeting at which we hope EVERY
Little Bromley resident will be able to attend. We are also inviting our MP,
Sir Bernard Jenkin to give his own update and share his views and ongoing
work on the issue.

Regards, Little Bromley Parish Council March 2024
