Archaeological Trial Trenching Surveys – October 2023

We have received the following from Five Estuaries:

"We are writing to inform you of planned archaeological trial trenching surveys which are due to commence next week, from 2 October 2023.   

These works are being carried out jointly between Five Estuaries and North Falls to better understand the potential for buried archaeology and will assist the projects as they further refine their proposals in preparation for submitting their respective applications for development consent.

This will be in limited areas on private land that is part of the projects’ substation search areas. Please see attached plan. These works are expected to last for around three weeks.  

The trenching will take place between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday. All staff carparking will be located within the work area and designated accesses will be used. Heras fencing will be used to secure equipment onsite when works are not taking place. The field will be fully reinstated on completion of the works.
