A120 Horsley Cross to Ramsey
I am writing to inform you that we’ll be carrying out essential maintenance work to the A120 between Horsley Cross and Ramsey. Our work will include resurfacing, renewal of the road markings, drainage repairs and damaged sign and fencing replacement.
We plan to complete this work over 4 months from Monday 25 October to 15 February 2022 between 9pm and 5am on weeknights only, subject to weather conditions.
Closures and diversions
To complete the work safely, we will need to close the A120 and divert traffic. As with our recent survey works, we have agreed different diversion routes for eastbound and westbound A120 traffic with Essex County Council to reduce the overall impact on the local communities. Our work will be carried out in a number of phases as detailed below:
Monday 25 October to Friday 12 November - Full closure between Pellens Corner and Horsley Cross in both directions.
Eastbound traffic will be diverted off the A120 at Pellens Corner onto the A133, B1033, B1035 to re-join the A120 at Horsley Cross Roundabout. (Diagram 1)
Westbound traffic will be diverted off the A120 at Ramsey onto the B1532, B1414, B1033 and the A133 to re-join the A120 at Pellens Corner. (Diagram 2)
Wednesday 3 November to Friday 5 November - Full closure between Pellens Corner and Ramsey and the B1035 between Horsley Cross Street and Tendering Green.
Eastbound traffic will be diverted off the A120 at Pellens Corner Roundabout onto the A133, B1033, B1414, B1532 and re-join the A120 at Ramsey. (Diagram 3)
Westbound traffic will be diverted off the A120 at Ramsey onto the B1532, A137 to Colchester, A1232 / Ipswich Road to re- join the A120 at the A12 / A120 Interchange, Colchester. (Diagram 3)
Monday 15 November 2021 to 15 February 2022 - Full closure between Horsley Cross Roundabout and Ramsey in both directions.
Eastbound traffic will be diverted of the A120 at Horsley Cross Roundabout onto the B1035 and B1352 to re-join the A120 at Ramsey. (Diagram 4)
Westbound traffic will be diverted off the A120 at Ramsey onto the B1532, B1414, B1033 and the A133 to re-join the A120 at Pellens Corner. (Diagram 4)
No work will be carried out over the Christmas / New Year period, between Tuesday 21 December to Tuesday 4 January 2022.
